Description

A stereoscopic photograph "Plaza, Los Angeles Cal.," by Thomas E. Stanton, ca. 1885. The view is taken from the east side of the public area and looks southwest. In the foreground are newly planted trees in protective wood structures, then a woodence fence and some carefully manicured cypress trees. Within the Plaza are lawns, walks and a variety of trees. At the left are the top two floors of the Pico House hotel. In the distance behind some trees are hills, probably the Poundcake and Bunker hill residential areas. Wires are strung over the Plaza from north to south, as well. With a few stains, some soiling, and minor edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
