Description
A stereoscopic photograph, Rancho La Merced, torn in half (a,b) ca. 1870. Photograph by Godfrey's of Los Angeles. In views is a hexagonal pavillion with a pointed roof. The sides are covered with wooden lattice work. In the background is an orchard of tall fruit trees. At the foreground there is a wooden picket fence with a vegetable garden on the left. Several Temple family members and household workers are in view with Julia Davis and five of the youngest Temple children. In other images, the home is identified as the Temple summer house. Print on the reverse states, "From Godfrey's/Photographic New Rooms/Los Angeles, CAL." With heavy ink stains on the reverse, moisture damage, complete tear to the middle, overall discoloration throughout, it is in poor condition.
