Description
A stereoview of Commercial Street in Los Angeles, 1872. A view down the middle of the street, looking east from Main Street, taken from an elevated position. Low commercial buildings are on both sides with narrow, paved sidewalks in front. On the gravel road are several pedestrians and horse drawn carriages. There is a boot store, White House Hotel,Polaski and Goodwin's dry goods store. On the left is one of the first two story buildings built in Los Angeles, by I.W. Hellman. The stereoview has moderate abrasion to the edges, minor surface scratches, fading and adhesive residue on the back from being pasted into a photo album page.
