A stereoscopic photograph, Residence of L. J. Rose, Esq. Sunny Slope, San Gabriel, ca. 1880. Photograph is part of the Watkins' New Series by Carleton Watkins, San Francisco. View from Orange Avenue looking down a dirt road lined with orange trees leading to the house of Leonard John Rose, founder of Rosemead and owner of Sunny Slope farm. The ranch produced wine and fruit and was irrigated with well water which established the Sunny Slope Water Company. With minor discoloration, the object is in good condition.
