Description
A stereoscopic photograph, view of Fort Street, from Fort Moore Hill, ca. 1870. Photograph by Henry T. Payne, Los Angeles as part of the Payne's Semi Tropical California series. Fort Street, present day Broadway, is seen from the elevated hill. In sight is a small one story square building and a grander building, Los Angeles High School (which opened in 1873) to the left in the background, with a clock tower at the center. The hill in the foreground is covered with low brush. The photograph is in fair condition with moderate edge abrasion, crease to bottom rigth, moderate acid burn, fading and soiling.
