Description
A stereoview photograph, view of old courthouse, ca. 1870. Photograph by H.T. Payne, Los Angeles as part of the Southern California Scenery series. In view is the main courthouse and its surrounding area. Spring Street is on the west, Main on the east, and Market on the north and Court on the south. The courthouse has a cupola topped tower at the center, built by John Temple for a market and theater. In the foreground is the skeleton frame of a one story building. The photograph is in good condition with moderate edge abrasion, fading, loss of bottom, right corner.
