Description
A stock certificate for the Northern Pacific Railroad Company, ca. 1880. The instrument, though signed by President Frederick R. Billings, who served from 1879-1881, was not issued and is cancelled with punch holes around his signature, suggesting this was done when he stepped down. The Northern Pacific completed, in 1883, a transcontinental rail line from Minnesota to Washington state and this item was included free with item .1 of this accession. With little evidence of wear, the condition is good.
