Description

A stereoscopic photograph of a street, possibly Spring Street, in downtown Los Angeles, ca. 1914. The amateur image is taken from an intersection looking down a busy street with pedestrians on the sidewalk and automobiles and horse-drawn vehicles on the street, which also has dual streetcar tracks. Structures range from one to eleven stories and appear to all be commercial buildings. The George Ralphs store is at right and this appears to be the Spring and 5th street location established in 1901. Another grocers is down the street further. On the reverse is a pencil inscription: "Los Angeles, c. 1914." With edge rubbing, light soiling and a puncture mark on the reverse not showing on the obverse, the overall condition is good.
