Description
A studio portrait of a man in a two piece vaquero suit, taken by Lawson in Los Angeles, ca.1890. The man, dressed as a cowboy, has a moustache and sombrero. The suit is a dark color with decorative borders and bands with a long sash tied across the waist and dangling to the side. He has one hand placed on his hip and the other at his side. The photograph has been colored during the developing process. The sash is red, cheeks are rosy and decorative bands are gold. The item is in good condition with moderate surface soiling throughout. On the reverse is an adhesive stain in the form of an envelope flap.
