Description

A cabinet card studio portrait of a man, Elite Gallery (Payne, Stanton and Co.), Los Angeles, ca. 1882. The image shows the man, approximately in his forties, standing in a three-quarter view and looking slightly to the right of the camera. He wears a long dark double-breasted high-buttoned frock coat with wide lapels, and has a white collar and dark tie on, as well. He had thinning dark-colored hair and a long, bushy mustache. At the bottom is the name and address, in the Temple Block, of the gallery and the reverse has an ornate cartouche, as well. With minor edge abrasions, soiling, and moderate fading to the lower section of the image, it is in fair condition.
