Description

A studio portrait of a woman by Witzel, Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. The view shows the woman seated and wearing a black dress with beaded detailing and a thin material portion draped over the back. Her hair is cut short and is thick and curly, though the style does not appear to be a bobbed cut. Witzel's cartouche is at the bottom and his stamp on the reverse, next to a pencil inscription that has the name "Carlisle," perhaps the subject's surname. With some small stains and soiling on the reverse and minor abrasions along the edge, the condition is good overall.
