A studio portrait of Dr. George Jesse Lund, A. Louis Mojonier, Los Angeles, ca. 1920. The image shows Lund from about the ribcage up and he wears a light-colored jacket, a light-colored striped tie with removal collar and has a handkerchief in his breast pocket and a flower in his lapel. On the reverse is an ink inscription identifying him and listing the names of his four brothers (the inscriber refers to the subject as "Uncle George.") Lund was from Alabama, New York and became a doctor, serving as coroner in his home county of Genesee and marrying Lina LeValley there in 1883. In the 1890s, the Lunds, including three children, moved to Los Angeles, where he practiced and taught medicine until the 1920s and was a major figure in the local Y.M.C.A. Lund died in May 1937 and is buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. With stains, shadowing, soiling and edge rubbing, mainly to the portfolio, the overall condition is good.
