A tinted carte de visite photograph of a young woman, Payne, Stanton and Company, Los Angeles, ca. 1880. The image is a head-and-shoulder view of the woman with color tinting of her hair and jewelry, especially. Her hair is tinted a brick red and a necklace is given a gold treatment. The woman's dress is notable, appearing to be of a dark taffeta with a tasseled color or shoulder piece and a high collar, possibly of dark velvet. The cartouche of the photographers' Elite Gallery is on the reverse. The image has a moderate fading, stains, soiling, and foxing. It is in fair condition.
