Description

A tintype photograph of infant Fred Williams of Azusa, ca. 1894. Housed in red and pink paper frame, the small format image shows the child, dressed in a white outfit, and appears to be about a year old or so. Fred, the son of Nelson and Caroline Williams, was born in Azusa in 1893. His adoptive grandfather, Henry, opened a store in Azusa in 1888 and was the town's first mayor about a decade later. The child's name is in pencil on the reverse of the frame. This frame has a major crease, almost separating, soiling and stains, while the image appears to be clean, so the overall condition is fair.
