Description

A title page and two deeds to land in Los Angeles County, 1887. The item pertains to 20 acres in what appears to be the Verdugo Mountains near Glendale, initially claimed under preemption in 1864 by William Moore and subject to an 1874 mortgage (see items .1 and .2 of the accession.) The title page, from The Abstract and Title Insurance Company of Los Angeles, is dated 17 August 1887 and refers to a group of 79 subsequent pages. A deed of 18 April 1887 from J. D. Yocum to trustee F. C. Howes and an agreement between Howes and Warren Gilleten and Thomas E. Beatty of 5 September 1887 concern the property. The items appear to have been disbound from an Abstract Title title book and have some stains, holes from the binding clips, soiling and edge rubbing, but is in good overall condition.
