A trade card from the Kohler and Frohling wine houseEntry/Object ID
2012.476.1.1Description
A trade card from the Kohler and Frohling wine house, ca. 1880s. Shaped like a fan, the item has a color image of birds on branches with flowers set above a framed pastoral image. On the reverse is text from the firm, with addresses in San Francisco and New York and vineyards in Sonoma, Merced, Fresno and Los Angeles counties, the latter being where the firm started in 1854, when the two, who were musicians, bought a vineyard and began their business. William Workman sold grapes to them from his La Puente vineyard. With what appears to be adhesive residue, a center crease that could develop into a tear or split, and some soiling, the condition is fair.Lexicon
