Description

A trade card with a Christmas scene by Woolson Spice Company, Toledo, Ohio, ca. 1890s. The card, one of a series to be found in one-pound packages of Lion brand coffee from mid-October through Christmas, shows a green-clad Santa Claus holding a red sack and sleeping next to a painted snowy landscape while five young children, perhaps cherubs, attempt to wake him, one of these figures holding a sprig of holly over his head. The reverse has information about the cards within a stylized design. With some edge rubbing, soiling and fading, the condition is good.
