A vanity container (a) and lid (b), ca. 1920s. The two pieces are part of the vanity set that belonged to Anita or Edith Temple. It is made of French ivory celluloid and is a cream color. The lid has a hole on top which suggests that easy access was intentional in its design so it might have been meant to hold items such as cotton balls, hair pins, or some other vanity products. It has a pattern of swirl lines on the lid and bottom container. The bottom of the container has a label "IVORY DU BARRY PY-RA-LIN." The early plastic was manufactured by Dupont and made to resemble natural ivory. With minor stains, it is in good condition.
