Description

A washboard, ca. 1940s. The washboard was made by the Cupples Company in St. Louis, Missouri. It has a stamp of "Good House Keepers" and features a ribbed glass center instead of metal which indicates the board was most likely made during the WWII era when metal was rationed for the war effort and glass boards were manufactured. The washboard may have belonged to Anita or Edith Temple. With significant scratches, fading on the wooden parts from over exposure of UV rays, water and detergent, as well as some accretions, it is in fair condition.
