2008.279.1.1Description
A wedding album for Beulah Jungquist and Walter E. Overell, 1914. The book contains such items as lists of guests and gifts; samples of clothing material for dresses and suits; written descriptions and photos of the honeymoon and subsequent anniversary and other pleasure trips; descriptions and clippings of functions, such as luncheons and dinners; photos of houses; and other material. Many portions of the printed and published album were not utilized. Walter Overell, with his brothers, inherited their father's large furniture store in downtown Los Angeles and ran it unti the 1940s. He, his wife, and their daughter, Beulah, lived, by 1930, in La Canada-Flintridge. In 1947, the family with the daughter's boyfriends were at the family's yacht at Newport Beach when the craft exploded killing Mr. and Mrs. Overell. The daughter and boyfriend were nearby when the incident occurred and, in a sensational trial, were acquitted of murder. With edge rubbing, dented corners and soiling to the covers and some soiling and browning to inside pages, as well as some loose items, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
