Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of an abandoned business building, ca. 1920s. The one-story Spanish colonial structure is at the center. It has double-doors at the center which have windows at the top. Flanking the doors are two windows both of which are missing the glass. A door with writing is visible through the one at the left, though only the word, "DISH" is discernable. Across the top of the facade are three light fixtures. The roof of the building is flat though the center of the front curves up. Connented to the structure at the left and right are two arches. The sidewalk across the front is mostly unpaved except for the area at the front of the doors. Across the foreground is a dirt road, and at the far right of the background is the wood siding of another structure. At the top of the right are power lines. A stamp at the center of the back reads, "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE." At the bottom left corner is the number, "8." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With stains along the top edge, the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
