Color: Black and white
A black and white reproduction photograph of an adobe-making pit at the Workman Homestead, ca. 1920s. The pit is a cleared area of the field at right, while a man is seen at the side of the pit, perhaps heading for the area at left behind the walnut trees (which are seen throughout the left side of the image), where a great many adobe bricks are set to dry. A wooden plank is seen leading into the pit and in the background are some wheelbarrows. At right is Evergreen Lane leading to the west and Turnbull Canyon Road, so the site was west and south of La Casa Nueva's building site--it is assumed the adobes were made for the home or Mission Walkway. As a new print, the image is in mint condition.
