ADOBE-MAKING SITE AND STACKS OF BRICKS, WORKMAN HOMESTEAD
Color: Black; White
A negative of adobe-making sites and stacks of bricks on the Workman Homestead, ca. 1923. The photographer is above ground-level overlooking the sites. At center are many rows of adobe bricks laying flat to dry. Behind them is an adobe kiln with more bricks stacked high in front of it. To the right is another long stack of bricks, arranged several pieces high. In the foreground is a pit with several tools, perhaps picks and shovels, resting against the edge on the left, while there appears to be a dirt mound at the right. There are a variety of trees around the site, including an evergreen and palm in the immediate foreground and, probably, walnut trees around the site. In the background, there seems to be a section of crops, backed by a large tree or several trees. In the distance are part of the Puente Hills. The image is very dark, but other than non-intrusive edge darkening, there appears to be little wear or damage and the object is in good condition.
