Color: Black; White
A black and white reproduction photograph of Thomas and Agnes Temple with friends at the Basye Adobe, July 1926. The Temples and four others are posed at a side of the adobe. Thomas and Agnes are at the center with the former wearing an unbuttoned vest, shirt and pants, all light colored and has his arms folded at his chest. Agnes wears a light-colored, knee-length dress and light-colored hose. Three of the four others are Luis P. Fatjo, future husband of Agnes; his cousins, Ramon and Connie Roca; and an unidentified woman. The adobe's wall is largely obscured by bushes and shrubs, though the two-gabled shingled roof is visible with a brick chimney toward the right part of the roof. There may be a water tank also next to the house. Directly behind the house is part of an oil derrick with another behind it in the background. The Basye Adobe, built in the 1860s, was occupied by the Temple family from 1912 to 1917 and was in the middle of the family's oil lease property. At the lower edge in Thomas' hand is the inscription "BASYE ADOBE, July 1926." On the reverse upper edge in pencil is an inscription reading "Montsarrat, Ines' husband Luis Fatjo, Ines, Thomas, ? , Ramon Roca / -house taken down by Standard Oil for a well." Beneath this is the addition by the cataloger "Connie Roca." With little indication of damage and wear, the photo is in good condition.
