Description

AGNES TEMPLE AND LUIS FATJO IN MILITARY COSTUME Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Agnes Temple and Luis Fatjo in military costume, ca. 1930s. The couple stands in a courtyard with Temple at the far right. She wears a hat; jacket which has buttons down the front; a sash with a metal insignia; a belt with a metal buckle; pants with a stripe down the leg; and knee-high boots with spurs. She looks to the left with her left arm up and a sword in the right hand which she has drawn at Fatjo's heart. Fatjo is at the far left and wears eye-glasses, a cape, dark-colored pants, and shoes. He looks and smiles at the camera. Across the back is a building which has stains on the walls. At the left are two windows with wooden blinds, and at the right is a small flight of stairs which leads to the top of a porch. The porch has a trellis along the edge and behind this are wood blinds. Written in ink at the left of the back in Temple's hand is, "Luis seems to enjoy / being stabbed!" Stamped at the center is the number, "999-434." Also stamped throughout the back is the word, "VELOX." The photograph was housed in Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With stains along the top edge and some yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in fair condition overall. Number-Units: 1
