Description

AGNES TEMPLE AND LUIS P. FATJO AT THE LA CASA NUEVA FRONT DOOR Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Agnes Temple and Luis P. Fatjo, standing at the front door of La Casa Nueva, August 1927. The two stand at the eastern end of the entryway with Agnes leaning against the wall. She wears a white knee-length dress with white hose and low-heeled loafers and has her hands in waist pockets. Fatjo, who married Agnes two years later, stands with his hands behind his back, wearing a light-colored suit jacket and tie, white shirt and knee-length knickers; diamond-patterened knee-length socks and brown shoes. Part of the plaster carving on the door surround is visible with debris on the flagstone walkway in the foreground, which may indicate that the carving was in the process of work or recently completed. Behind Fatjo is part of the top of the screen door. On the reverse upper right corner is the stamped number 130. At the center is a stamp reading "'ENAMELO' / AUG 31 1927 / WEBBS." Also in the center, partially covered by this last stamp is a stamp reading "VELOX." At the upper left in the hand of a former museum curator is the penciled inscription "Agnes Temple & / friend." Aside from light surface soiling, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
