Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Agnes Temple standing by a roadside sign for the Cal-Neva Lodge on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, 1932. Agnes stands at the center of the sign and wears a light-colored dress with a dark collar, buttons, and scarf tied in the front. She has on a horizontally striped jacket over her dress and wears light-colored shoes with dark trim. The large wooden sign has three lights mounted to the top and set out over the sign to illuminate it. The lettering reads "ENTRANCE / CAL-NEVA LODGE / DINING DANCING / UNEXCELLED / CUISING / EXCELLENT MUSIC." Agnes partially covers an element of the sign that refers to rooms at the lodge. Aside from partial views of trees in the background and the large dirt area in the foreground, there are no other distinguishing features. The date is determined from the car license plate from a related image, 96.7.68.2. On the reverse lower left is the stamped number "96." With significant water damage at the top edge and adhered mounting corners, the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
