Description

AGNES TEMPLE FATJO ABOARD THE "CONTE ROSSO" OFF THE FRENCH RIVIERA Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Agnes Temple Fatjo aboard the "Conte Rosso" off the French Riviera, ca. 1930. Temple is at center and wears a hat, heavy long coat, and gloves. She looks off to the left and has her right elbow resting against the metal railing of the ship where there is a round lifesaver hanging on the bottom left. The two-toned lifesaver has the name of the ship on the top and "Genova" on the bottom. On the back is writing in Temple's hand which reads, "Looking at the / French Riviera / from the boat. / Rec'd Feb 10/30." The photograph was taken during Temple's honeymoon and was housed in her album, which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs, which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With heavy water damage, tears, and smearing of the ink at the back, the image is in poor condition.
