Description

Color: Black; White A copy of a black and white photograph of Agnes Temple dressed in Mexican costume, ca. 1921. The image is taken from an original or duplicate in which Agnes was cut out of a larger photograph; therefore, other features are limited to a patch of grass beneath her feet and vaguely seen trees in the background. Agnes stands with her body partially turned to her right and has her left hand on her hip and her right hand holds a dark-colored fan. She has a white mantilla on her head and is draped in a white shawl with what seem to be roses decorating the front. The lace fringe starts just below her shoulder, as a sleeve, and at below her waist. She appears to be wearing white shoes. It is possible that the original image was taken at a Mission San Gabriel sesquicentennial function in 1921, but the date is unknown. On the reverse upper right, in pencil by a former museum curator, is the inscription "Source - [donor's name withheld.]" With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
