Description

A photograph of the crash site of a Pickwick Airways airplane, Los Angeles, 7 August 1929. The image shows the plane lying upside down in the dry river bed with policemen, bystanders, and others surrounding the plane. On the side of the fuselage is the company name and, on the door, is the name "Glenn Curtiss," one of the pioneers of Los Angeles aviation. On the reverse is a credit statement typed and affixed to the top, as well as credit stamps for the photograph service. The surname "Smith" is written in pencil on the reverse, as well. There is some soiling, curving of the paper and browning to the paper on the credit statement, but the overall condition is good.
