Description

Color: Black; White A black and white postcard of the Woman's Club in Alhambra, ca. 1920s. The cottage-like structure has two floors and is at the center on a small knoll. It has a pitched roof and a stone chimney at the left of the center that runs down the center of a wall. The walls have wood siding and at the right is a glass-paneled door. Above the door is a balcony on which is a sign that reads, "ALHAMBRA / WOMAN'S CLUB." Across the front is a porch with steps at the far right and a paved walk leads to the porch through a grassy yard. Across the bottom of the foreground is a sidewalk, while at the the top are the leafless branches of a tree. More trees are across the background. Across the bottom right corner is, "A-15 WOMAN'S CLUB, ALHAMBRA, CALIF." On the top center of the back is, "POST CARD." Written in pencil on the top right corner is, "Esther / Bellec" and the publisher's name is at the center. This building formerly housed the Wednesday Afternoon Club, of which Laura G. Temple was a member. With light abrasions; small dents at the corners; some surface soiling; and light stains on the back, the object is in good condition overall.
