Description
An advertising card for the Hotel Vista del Arroyo in Pasadena, ca. 1915. On one side is a full photograph of a portion of hotel, which is largely obscured by several trees on the expansive grounds. An automobile is parked on the side of the driveway and a bungalow appears to be at the right. On the reverse is information on the hostelry, including phone numbers, the manager's name, amenities and location. This appears to be the original structure, relaced by a two-story steel and wood frame structure completed about 1922, eight years before a six-story tower was added. The property became a military hospital in World War II and housed government offices until 1974. In 1985, after restoration, the site reopened as the southern seat of the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. With some edge rubbing, corner creases and light soiling, the overall condition is good.
