Description

An advertising statue for Richfield Oil Company, near Los Angeles, F. Morrison Boyd, 1925. The image shows a three-dimensional race car atop a rectangular pedestal with the company name and that of its Richlube product. The statue is in a field with a tank, a billboard and landscaped areas in the distance, though there is no identification as to location. A photo developer's stamp has the date 28 July 1926 and a San Diego location. Boyd, a road scout for the American Automobile Association, was on a 37,000-mile trip through the U.S., Mexico and Canada. With some stains and soiling, mainly on the reverse, the condition is good overall.
