2012.592.1.1Description
An empty bottle of West Point Bourbon, manufacured by McDevitt and Doyle, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. The bottle is of clear glass and has its metal cap. The label has the product name; a purple star logo for the manufacturers, who were A. E. McDevitt and P.J. Doyle, proprietors of The Old Crow Bar at 534 S. Spring St., which address is on the bottom of the label; and the names of secretary J. C. Kipper and president Barney OIdfield. The latter (1878-1946) was a famed bicycle and then early auto racer. The bottle has content and other stains, perhaps dried mold, and the label has small tears, much soiling and staining, and fading, so the condition is, at best, fair.Lexicon
