"An Historical Sketch of Los Angeles County, California" (Second printing, Los Angeles: Louis Lewin and Company,) 1876. The first printed book in the region was produced for the American centennial and was compiled by John J. Warner, Benjamin Hayes, and J. P. Widney. There are three chapters: the first by Warner covering the period up to the American conquest era in 1846; the second by Hayes detailing the years 1847 to 1867; and the last by Widney regarding the era from 1867 to 1876. There is also an appendix new to the second printing covering the planning and commemoration of the centennial in Los Angeles. With a detached front cover, very brittle edges, browning, soiling, some foxing and some small tears, the condition is poor.
