An orange crate from the Placentia Mutual Orange Association, Placentia, Orange County, California, ca. 1915. The dual-bin crate has metal nails and is stamped on the top rails of the longer sides with the Sunkist brand name and that of its parent firm, the California Fruit Growers Exchange. On one short end is a pasted-down label for Shamrock brand valencia oranges packed at the Placentia facility and it has a color image of an orange grove with mountains in the background. At the center is a large green four leaf clover. At the bottom right is an image of an orange wrapped in cellophane. A copyright date of 1915 is on the label. Overall the crate is in good condition with water damage and warping to the center board.
