"Anchor Weld Iron Fences and Gates," catalog number 83 issued by the Anchor Post Fence Company and printed by Rickard and Company, Inc., 1929. The blue marbleized paper cover has an iron lattice-like design at the center of the front, within which is a pale green field. Over this, in red lettering, is the title. In black letters below the design is "CATALOG No. 83." The title page shows an image of an entry gate with the company's headquarters, district sales offices, branch sales offices, and factories. Descriptions of the company's products and examples from residences and estates, accompanied by black and white photographs, are at the front. This is followed by examples at schools and playgrounds and institutions and churches. The center section is an explanation of the process of electric flange-welding and its advantages for the company's products. The next section shows examples in public buildings, parks and municipal areas, followed by those for cemeteries and industrial plants, railroads and public utilities. Specifications and illustrations for ornamental iron gates and iron fences is next, with information about their nationwide service following. Concluding is a section on chain link fences with examples illustrated by black and white photographs. At the bottom left of the title page is the inscription, in blue ink, "General Fence Co / Glen 6270-M." Other than a few areas of soiling and some cover wear and dented corners, the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
