Color: Green; White
"Annual Publications, Historical Society of Southern California, Volume 15, Numbers 1-4, 1931-1933," printed by McBride Printing Company for number one and an unknown printer for the rest. The green clothbound book with speckled paper has gold printing on the spine including the organization name and publication years. The three complete issues are bound inside with the original wrappers and the first two are page-numbered consecutively. Number one, with 263 pages, is a commemorative issue for the sesquicentennial of the founding of Los Angeles. It is divided into three parts: articles, of which there are five; documents pertaining to the founding of Los Angeles, of which there are seven; and a section of Spanish reprints of documents. Two articles and two documents were written by Thomas W. Temple II. At the front is a list of Society officers and directors and a calendar of events for 1931. Tipped in at page 119 is an illustration relating to the article that follows. Numbers two and three, with 104 pages, include fifteen articles as well as the Society constitution, by-laws, membership, and officer rosters. Notable is a short article commemorating the tenth Olympiad, held in 1932 in Los Angeles. Number four, with 119 pages, contains seven articles, one written by Temple and another commemorating the Society's fiftieth anniversary. There is also a 1933 calendar of events and officers list. On the inside front cover is the ex-libris label of a former owner. With little evidence of use, the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
