The tan cover shows the an illustration of the historical society's seal along with the title of the volume. The item contains articles relating various topics in the history of California, including its Spanish missions and adobe structures. Thomas Workman Temple II's signature is present at the top of the front cover, and a label beneath it reads, "Thos. Workman Temple II / 1430 South Euclid Avenue / San Gabriel, California." Mitchell of the California Centennials Commission (b) which reads, "26 Oct 48 / Tom / My sincere thanks / for the loan of these very interesting volumes, / I hope to see you again soon. / Sincerely / Lloyd" has been stored between the front cover and the title page of the volume. A pink slip of paper (c) has been stored between pages 146 and 147, and a brown slip of paper has been stored between pages 156 and 157 (d). Another pink slip has been stored between pages 160 and 161 (e). With minor creases; moderate and minor discoloration; and minor tears, the object is in poor condition overall.
