"Appellant's Points and Authorities," A. M. W. de Temple vs. D. W. Alexander, Sheriff, Case 5773, Supreme Court of the State of California, ca. 1877. The printed item provides the points offered by Thom & Ross, attorneys for Alexander in the suit filed by A. M. W. de Temple, which she won at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The matter refers to a judgement obtained by Arcadia Bandini Stearns Baker for cattle in compensation for moneys owed to her in the failure of the bank of Temple and Workman. As Sheriff, Alexander, a long-time friend of the Temples, seized the animals and was then sued by Mrs. Temple, who claimed that most of the animals were owned by her minor children, John and Lucinda. Her attorney son, William, was also involved as guardian to the minors and attorney for his mother. After a statement of the case, four points of law in support of Alexander's argument are offered with citations of authorities in law. Aside from some browning and liquid stains on the bottom of pages, the condition is good.Lexicon
