Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the arcade at Mission San Juan Capistrano, ca. 1920s. The arches are at the left of the center and to the right. Many doors and windows of the mission are behind the arches in the shadows. The structure has two-stories at the far left and right, with a single floor at the middle. Many small windows line the second floor at the left, while there are only three at the right with iron bars. Also at the right is an arched tower topped by a cross. Ceramic shingles line the structure's roof-top. At the far left of the foreground is a grassy area, and at the left of the background is a one-story building and hills. On the back bottom right corner is the number, "4." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With only some yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
