Description

ARCHED PORTICO AT MISSION SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA. 1920s Color: Black; White A real photo postcard of an arched portico wall at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, ca. 1920s. The sepia-tone image on the unused card shows five arches of the wall with climbing vines in three places, shrubs at the base, and other plants on the ground at the lower left. Only small portions of a building wall are visible between two of the arches. On the reverse is a logo for the manufacturer's "Calitype" process, the word "POST CARD" and an indicator for where to place a stamp, all at the top. At the left is a space for a message, but much of this is taken up by a short description of the mission and an ad for Mission Malt Tonic, made by the Los Angeles Brewing Company. The address space is at the right. At the far left is the publisher's name and place of business. With stains, surface soiling, dented corners, and creases, the overall condition is fair.
