"Architectural Aluminum," a brochure issued by the Aluminum Company of America, 1929. The paper cover has a very elaborate design with a wave-like design in silver and black as a border. Within this is a tall panel with pegasuses at the top corners, a series of floral designs around a central rectangular panel, within which are floral and leaf designs and a base, in which the company name is in silver. At the center of the panel is a short, wide panel with a black background and the title of the publication in silver letters over the background. At the bottom right are the initials "GFT." The inside front cover and flysheet has alternating patterns of a angled brown stripe on a silver background with an "A"-shaped floral design in silver over a brown background. The brochure begins with an explanation of the use of an aluminum cap on the Washington Monument, followed by descriptions of the propensity of the use of aluminum, scientific analysis of its weathering properties, and a list of architectural elements made from the alloy along with its positive attributes. The rest of the document is a "portfolio" of prominent buildings using aluminum including public buildings, commercial structures, churches, monuments, and schools. An image of the building with the architect(s) and contractor(s) listed below accompanies a description and illustrations of aluminum details in each structure. A section on the use of aluminum conduit for floodlights, shingles, and roofing concludes the work, with the last page listing company sales offices. Although there are some pages creases and two stains on the front cover, lower right, the document is in good condition.Lexicon
