Description

Color: Black; Silver "Architectural Details of Southern Spain," by Gerstle Mack and Thomas Gibson (New York: William Helburn Inc., 1928), 149 pp. The black hardcover book has the title in silver at the top of the front, and this is repeated on the spine along with the authors' and publisher's names. Inside, on the back of the front cover, is the name and Covina address of a former owner. A title page, introduction, and a listing of plates begin the book which provides examples of Spanish architecture with a look at patios, doorways, wooden doors, ironwork, windows, fountains, ceilings, and facades. For each category, black and white photographs of a building are provided along with a brief description. These are accompanied by architectural drawings that provide detailed measurements and artist renderings. In good overall condition, the artifact has some abrasions and dents at the corners; some surface soiling; slight yellowing of the pages; some fading of the lettering on the spine; a pin hole along the spine; surface scratches on the cover; finger stains on many pages; and small tears on the cover fabric.
