Description

Color: Black; Brown; White "Architecture," November 1928 issue, published by Charles Scribner's Sons. The plain paper cover of the 94-page periodical has the title and issue date at the top, a silhouetted image of a classical Temple-like structure below this and a list of major articles in the issue. The price and publisher's name and American and British locations are at the bottom. The first twenty-eight pages are advertisements, followed by a section called "The Bulletin-Board," listing short newsworthy items. The table of contents is on page thirty-three, with major articles concerning classic architecture; the chapel at Princeton University; measured drawings of hotel bathrooms in New York; painted wall patterns from colonial America; the home of a man in Ardmore, Pennsylvania and one in Detroit; the World War Memorial in New Britain, Connecticut; a pictorial review of modern works in Europe; pigments in Portland cement; the emerging skylines of New York and Chicago in pictures; and a portfolio section on plaster ceilings. An editorial section, book reviews, and architectural news in photos are regular listed features. The final fifty-six pages are advertisements. Many black and white photographs and some drawings comprise the illustrations. With brittleness, creases, dents, soiling, loosening from the body of the document, stains, tears, and wear on the cover, though the pages are in fine shape, the overall condition is fair.
