Description
AREA AT THE NORTH SIDE OF LA CASA NUEVA DURING CONSTRUCTION
Color: Black; White
A photograph of the area to the north of La Casa Nueva during construction, 8 November 1925. The view is looking east from where the West Lawn and the north section of the house meet. At left to center is the north enclosure wall with the wood gates leading to the front of the house opened inward. A section of the wall is missing at the second to the last bay in the background center. At the center and right is a portion of the east wall. A palm tree is planted at the right of center and there is construction debris scattered on the ground, including adobe bricks and cylindrical tubes. Other than the tree there is no landscaping present, just weed patches. In the background is part of the northwest section of the Workman House roof and one chimney, as well as some trees and bushes planted around that house. On the upper left of the reverse is the penciled date "11-8-25," and the number "48" is stamped in that corner. Preprinted at several locations on the reverse is the brand name "VELOX" referring to Kodak paper. With some light discoloration and surface soiling and a stain at the upper left of the image, the overall condition is good.
