AS-FOUND DOOR TO MUSIC PRACTICE ROOM, LA CASA NUEVA
Color: Brown
A copy print of a color polaroid photograph of the as-found door from the upper Main Hall to the Music Practice Room, La Casa Nueva, 8 February 1979. The photographer stood at the north landing and the view shows the door partially open at right. Though it is of the dark brown color of the other doors and balcony rails, it is an unornamented piece of wood, probably replaced by the Brown family during the use of the home as El Encanto Convalescent Hospital. At lower center and left is a portion of the handrail in the hall, while at far left is the archway to the hall on the west side of the upstairs. An inscription in dark ink on the reverse reads "Temple Mansion / 2nd Fl. Hall / as-found (non-historic) / door to Agnes' Music / Room / photo by archt 2-8-79." Below this, covered with a piece of tape, is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
