Description

A photograph of Ascot Livery, Los Angeles, 1920s. The image, pasted onto a large dark-colored matte board, shows the livery building in downtown Los Angeles, with some horses, horse-drawn carts, and an automobile in front of the establishment. The facade has all manner of lettering, images, and other information on it. On the reverse are inscriptions, including an original stating "To Grace Watkins / from your Loving Father." Another reads "Stables owned by Grandfather in L.A. early 1900 / Samuel Watkins." A third is "Also had Ascot Racetrack / Gene Tooman rode there as boy / (In 1973 - Tooman was 84 yrs. old." With some stains on the image and stains, edge wear and creases on the matte, the condition is good.
