"Aviation," 26 March 1928 issue, Volume 24, Number 13, published by the Aviation Publishing Corporation. The periodical has the title at the top with an abstract wing design as a background, an image of Italian planes flying in formation within a stylized yellow border, the volume and number as extensions of this border at the bottom, a listing of three special features, and publisher information. Contents concern engines; airplanes of various makes and models; the 1928 National Air Races, held in Los Angeles; requirements for aviation set by the Commerce Department; news items and briefs; an engine specification table; foreign news; a section on airports and airways; U. S. air forces; and many advertisements at the front and back of the pages, as well as the back cover. There are many black and white photgraphs and some drawings. The article on the National Air Races noted that the event was planned for September, a funding program established, and a committee named to plan the event. Moreover, a note about the Los Angeles Municipal airport perhaps being completed in time for the races, and projected events are noteworthy. On the front cover are many stamps from the Bret Harte branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, including discarding notices. The item is in poor condition with brittleness, creases, dents, soiling, moisture damage, a musty smell, stains, tears, and wear on the cover and discoloration, moisture, and wear on some pages, though these latter are in generally good condition.Lexicon
