Description

"Azusa, Southern California, In Los Angeles County: The City of Opportunity," issued by the Azusa Chamber of Commerce, 1926. The booster pamphlet has an idealized image of the town at the base of San Gabriel Canyon, in which there is the San Gabriel Dam and form which runs the San Gabriel River and San Gabriel Canyon Road. On the back panel, next to the river, are factories emitting smoke into the sky with text about the town being an "industrial center North-east of Los Angeles Just 24 Miles." Inside panels have images of schools, businesses, the downtown, camping areas within the canyon, residences and churches with text promoting recreation, education, commercial, industrial, religious and civic, agricultural and residential benefits. There is a regional map, as well, and there is typed information from 1936 and a crossed-out area dealing with the headquaters of the National Association of Rabbit Industries, Inc.. With some pest damage on the edge, creases, light soiling, and edge rubbing, the overall condition is fair.
